Shiori Durham’s passion for nail art began at the age of 17 while on vacation in the U.S.A for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She went to a nail salon and it was her first time seeing nail sculpting.
After that trip she had a clear goal in life revolving around the nail industry.
Starting her nail career at La Muse Nail Academy in Sapporo from 2003 to 2011, Shiori moved up from being a student to an instructor for JNEC Nailist Exam all while working on customers' nails.
While at La Muse she became a certified JNA Educator in 2007. Shiori also competed in ten nail competition events from 2006 to 2010.
From 2011 to 2014 she started her own nail salon and school in Yokohama. Mainly focused on education, her main goal was to prepare her students for JNA certified exams and the techniques required to successfully win nail competitions.
While her main focus was on her students she continued to gain higher certifications and compete at various nail events, most notably winning Grand Champion at 2013 Asia Nail Festival in Osaka Japan.
Shiori moved to Washington State U.S.A in 2014 where she worked at eN Salon Musee in Bellevue WA, as a Nail Ambassador for ORLY International Inc. and held various nail seminars in Canada, Mexico, California and Washington.
Her main goal while in the U.S.A was to compete in NAILPRO Cup competition events being held across the United States.
Her hard work and dedication resulted in winning the 2016 NAILPRO Cup Individual Champion.
